Itinerary description
This describes the one way hike from the visitors center to the summit of Mauna Kea. The trail has no shade or water so be sure to bring a good hat, sunscreen, and plenty to drink. I did this in August and the temperature was about 80-85 F at the visitors center, but only about 40-45 F on the summit. Since I didn't bring a jacket to Hawaii, I bought a hoodie at the visitors center. I also hich hiked back down to the visitors center.
