Itinerary description
Cycle route from Gravesend to Canterbury, via Rochester and Ashford, about 50% of it on road and 50% off road.
- Route 1 from Gravesend to Rochester
- Route 17 from Rochester to Ashford (Pilgrims cycle way)
- Route 18 from Ashford to Canterbury (second part of the Pilgrims cycle way)
All three routes are connected, and quite well signed, there has been a clear improvement there.
I would recommend a mountain bike for the middle part, between Rochester and Ashford, otherwise a hybrid bike will do if it´s not too wet, but clearly not a road bike.
Except for the climb to Bluebell Hill, past Rochester, the rest of the route is mostly flat.
