Itinerary description
The westernmost point of Iceland is Látrabjarg where one of Europe's most impressive cliffs is located. The cliff is fourteen kilometers long and at its highest point no less than 440 meters high. This short walk explores the beginning of the cliff, but this should be enough to have a good idea of what Látrabjarg looks like. The cliffs are already a beautiful location for a walk, but the birds are the real stars in this location. Unfortunately there were no puffins to be seen at the end of August, but there were plenty of other birds, especially seagulls. Due to the strong gusts of wind, it is recommended not to walk completely on the edge, because then you risk to disappear into a swirling sea...
