Itinerary description
Borestone mountain is a rare point accessible on a paved road inside the 100-mile wilderness in northern Maine. The short trail climbs to the top of the mountain (two peaks) and gives access to wonderful views of the lakes, ponds and forests around, especially in the fall. Like everywhere in the appalachian mountains, the climbs are steep in places and sometimes require the use of hands (scrambling) and metal pegs installed along the trail.
